Tangerine Star
Receiving a PO

Receive the PO

Review the extracted line items and commit them to inventory in one step — receive and catalog together, with unchecked lines deferring cleanly.

Receiving is where an extracted purchase order becomes real inventory. In Tangerine Star, reviewing and receiving are one step — you check the lines you actually got, and commit them together. There's no separate "catalog it later" chore.

The receive-review

Open a PO and start the receive-review. Each line shows what Tangerine Star already worked out for it:

  • whether it's a reorder (pointing at the product you already have) or a new product
  • its price, with your rules applied
  • any quantity breakdown (a case that becomes singles, for example)
  • anything blocking — a number that doesn't reconcile, an ambiguous barcode, a decision it needs from you

You confirm what's right, fix what isn't, and check off the lines you received.

Receiving in one step

Review each line

Walk the lines. Reorders flow into existing products; new items get named, priced, and structured — with Tory if they need real modeling.

Check what arrived

Tick the lines you actually received. Anything you don't check simply defers — it doesn't block the rest of the order.

Commit

Receive the checked lines together, in one atomic step. Inventory updates against the right products, and new products are created as you go.

Partially received orders

You don't have to receive an entire PO at once. A document moves through three states as you go:

  • Not received — nothing committed yet
  • Partially received — some lines received, others still open
  • Fully received — everything accounted for

So if half the order showed up today, receive that half now and the rest when it arrives. The unchecked lines stay ready and waiting.

This "receive what came, defer the rest" model is deliberate. Real shipments arrive split, backordered, or short — and your counts should reflect what's actually on the shelf, not what was ordered.

After you receive

Received products are ready for everything downstream:
